SAE’s award-winning A World In Motion® (AWIM®) program has been used successfully at Patterson Elementary in Gilbert, AZ and they are looking to expand AWIM implementation in phases to reach ALL students in PreK-6 (over 550 students!)
AWIM is an inquiry-based, hands-on learning experience that brings STEM concepts to life, providing students with knowledge and skills to help them succeed in future education, careers, and life. Starting with the youngest learners, from preschool through 12th grade, AWIM combines practical, experiential learning with mentorship from industry volunteers and ongoing training and support for educators to provide equitable access to STEM.
The AWIM volunteer at Patterson Elementary serves as an in-person resource for educators and mentor/role model for students. As such, you will have the opportunity to influence and enhance the ways in which our youth learn STEM and essential 21st century skills like critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. For a short-term, flexible time commitment, you will help make learning fun, help students discover the exciting application of science and math principles, and share your experience and insights to ignite STEM potential in the next generation.
“Patterson will eventually be a full inquiry model school. We will create opportunities for students to think critically, persevere, exceed expectations, collaborate effectively, and learn valuable executive functions through the use of AWIM’s Engineering Design Experience™”
Lucas Blackburn, Principal at Patterson Elementary
