In collaboration with SAE Foundation, students at Virginia Tech’s Imagination summer camp Week 2 will be participating in SAE’s A World In Motion® (AWIM®) Motorized Toy Car Challenge. This is a hands-on activity where students design and build gear-driven toys to explore engineering and simple machines. Students will work together to structure the most efficient car possible. Pasted below is a link to the Motorized Toy Car training slide deck: Motorized Toy Car Presentation 2023 Rebrand.pptx
As a volunteer, you will have the responsibility of mentoring and overseeing students as they navigate the AWIM Challenges. You will build real-world connections to concepts and skills that students are learning, and serve as a role model for students by sharing your experience and insights. As such, you will have the opportunity to influence and enhance the ways in which our youth are prepared to meet the challenges of the future. For a short-term, flexible time commitment, you will help make learning fun, help students discover the exciting application of science and math principles, and share information about rewarding careers in your chosen profession.

What is AWIM?
SAE’s award-winning AWIM program is an inquiry-based learning experience that brings STEM concepts to life, setting students on a path of lifelong learning and discovery. Starting with the youngest learners, from preschool through 12th grade, AWIM combines practical, experiential learning with mentorship from industry volunteers and ongoing training and support for educators to provide equitable access to STEM.
